Exposure

They require plenty of light, even direct, good ventilation, and humidity around 50%.

In spring (after flowering has finished), it can be moved outdoors, to a sunny position.

Temperatures

Cymbidiums are orchids that flower well and without problems in places that provide cool summer and autumn temperatures. These plants do not, in fact, require particularly high temperatures. Ideal temperatures range between 15° and 18°C. In summer, they can also tolerate temperatures of 30°C for short periods provided there is adequate air humidity and good air circulation.

To ensure flowering, they need a period at temperatures around 8°-10°C (but can tolerate temperatures close to 0) and therefore thrive outdoors until the end of October/beginning of November approximately.

Watering

Water fairly often; the substrate should always remain slightly moist; the frequency will depend on the outside temperature and the type of substrate you use. Cymbidiums do not require a particularly humid environment. In fact, the humidity level should be around 50%. In any case, during the summer if the temperature rises excessively, it is advisable to mist the leaves.

During the period spent outdoors, in autumn/winter, when temperatures drop to around 10°C, suspend watering and gradually resume when brought back indoors, i.e., when the flower spikes have appeared.

Fertilisation

Fertilise every 15-20 days approximately with a balanced fertiliser (20-20-20) for orchids, following the doses indicated on the package.

Substrate

For the soil type, you can use a mix of medium-large bark and blonde peat.

It is essential that the substrate ensures good drainage (larger pieces should be placed at the bottom of the pot).
