About Us
Our Story | Giulio Celandroni Orchidee
How a Passion Was Born: From the Veranda to the Greenhouses
The Giulio Celandroni Orchidee farm is deeply rooted in a profound connection with the botanical world. This adventure began many years ago in San Giuliano Terme (Pisa), between the veranda and the rooms of our home, where as a boy, I started cultivating and collecting my first orchids. What was once the fascinating curiosity of a teenager gradually transformed into a journey of continuous study, field research, and daily dedication.
This path, made of small steps and a constant desire to learn, led me to travel extensively and attend major international trade fairs. The exchange with growers and experts from around the world opened the doors to new responsibilities, eventually leading to my qualification as an International Judge and, subsequently, the honor of being invited to be part of the jury for the World Orchid Conference.
Being able to observe the highest global botanical standards firsthand on the judging table was not an endpoint but an incredible opportunity for growth. It is precisely this close experience with the world's best plants that I now strive to apply every day within our greenhouses.
What We Grow: Botanical Species and Rarities
In our nursery in San Giuliano Terme, you won't find mass-market plants, but a curated selection of botanical orchids, rare species, collector's hybrids, and fascinating Tillandsia (air plants). We pay particular attention to iconic genera such as:
- Cattleya: Sought after for their majestic, elegant, and fragrant flowers.
- Vanda: Spectacular epiphytic orchids, grown bare-root with intense blooms.
- Botanical and Hybrid Phalaenopsis: Selected for genetic strength, elegance of form, and richness of color.
- Dendrobium and botanical varieties suitable for both collectors and those new to this world.
Our Method: Technology at Nature's Service
To best grow such demanding tropical plants, we have chosen to rely on a fully automated greenhouse. This technology constantly monitors light, humidity, ventilation, and temperature parameters, recreating the ideal habitat for the root and vegetative development of each species.
However, sensors alone are not enough. The experience gained in international contexts guides our daily manual work:
- Selection of genetic lines: We choose mother plants and young specimens with strong and healthy genetics.
- Artisan care: We use high-quality substrates (such as selected bark and sphagnum moss) to ensure that the roots receive the right balance of air and water.
- Strict health control: Each plant leaves the nursery only if it shows good health and vigor, guaranteeing its adaptation to your home.
Our Philosophy
For us at Giulio Celandroni Orchidee, selling a plant means sharing a piece of this wonderful passion. Whether you are an experienced collector looking for a rare specimen or an enthusiast who wants to make their first orchid bloom on the windowsill, our goal is to offer you plants grown according to the highest quality standards in the industry.
Our experience at your service.
